Chinuch Hora'ah of the Day:
Since each and every [woman] is an akeres habayis, the entire atmosphere of the home is dependent on her, so clearly it is the case as well with the matter of preparation for the receiving of the Torah anew.
As it is now a few days before the 6th of Sivan, zman Matan Toraseinu (the time we receive the Torah), each akeres habayis has a special shlichus placed upon her: to establish the way her home will prepare for the receiving of the Torah anew, with a fresh simchah and vitality.
Just as the preparation for Matan Torah began with the women (and since this is written in the Torah, it is an eternal lesson for each and every year), so too when we prepare to receive the Torah from Hashem each year, the preparation begins through the women. Each woman succeeds in influencing her family in this path, to such an extent that a few days before Matan Torah the entire home becomes permeated with matters of Torah.
The preparations increase with each coming day, just as with the physical preparations for the festival. Beginning a few days before the festival, and as the day approaches, more is added, more vitality, zerizus (haste) and simchah... until the Yom Tov itself arrives and we merit the moment that we bless Shehecheyanu.
