The Rabbinical Congress for Peace - "Pikuach Nefesh" has come out with a call to Jews to all Jewish males after the age of 13 to don Tefilin (phylacteries) every weekday and to all women and girls (after the age of 3) to light Sabbath candles (unmarried girls light one candle while a married woman lights two).
"We also call upon all Christians and non-Jews to increase in acts of goodness and kindness to your neighbor and fellow man."
In a statement issued by the Rabbis, they write that "For over 12 years we have been screaming, warning and sounding the alarm that relinquishing Israeli territory based on fraudulent "peace" treaties will only lead to more bloodshed and that it is a matter of life or death for all those living in Israel
"Although we had no political intentions and whatever we said was based on the clear emphatic ruling in the Jewish Code of Law Orach Chaim Chaper 329 that determines that life supercedes land and therefore it is forbiden to give up an inch of land to the Arabs, nevertheless, we were castigated, villified and denounced.
"Unfortunately, now we all see and are suffering the consequences of giving up land both in the north and in the south.
"At least now the time has come to listen to us - to the divine decree of our Holy Torah!
"We call upon all Jewish males after the age of 13 to don Tefilin every weekday. Tefilin possesses a special spiritual component that frightens and deters the enemy. And to our sisters all - Jewish women - to start lighting Sabbath candles every Friday before sunset. Sabbath candles too have a spiritual component to dispell darkness and to light up the world.
"We fervently pray that our Father in Heaven have mercy on us and transform these days into days of joy and happiness ushering in the Final Redemption by our righteous Messiah."
