Last minute efforts are being made to change the decision to close down the long-standing Chabad school in downtown Lod. The decision came from the Lod Municipality Education Department. According to the plan, the students will be distributed among the local religious schools. Mrs. Hadassa Maatouf, the pricipal of the school, recieved a letter informing of the harsh decision.
Rabbi Yaakov Gloiberman, indefatigable askan, immediately sent off a letter expressing his chagrin and indignation, and requested that those in charge do all in their power to reverse the decree and save the school. The letter was written in the name of the founders and leaders of the school and the Lubavitcher community in Lod.
Copies of the letter were sent to Minister Saar, Vice-Minister Mozes, Rabbi Boruch Boaz Yurkowitz and Rabbi Yisroel Butman of the Reshet.
