Having just risen from his place and moved to a different chair at the table to make room for an unexpected visitor, a Bochur’s life was saved as an air conditioner fell four stories, crashing through the Sukkah’s schach on Sunday afternoon.
It was the second day of Yomtov and six Hadar HaTorah Bochrim made there way down to the school’s Sukkah located in the alleyway behind their school on Eastern Parkway. The group intended to partake in a small Kiddush before heading to their respective meals.
Little did they know that moments before making a “Leshev Basukah” a unique Ushpizen was about to drop in from on high... four stories high.
Thus far, no air conditioner manufacturers or owners have taken responsibility for the drop-in. Experts have suggested that were it not for the very temporary nature of the holiday structure’s roof, the damage would have been much more extensive and costly.
Needless to say, the Schach has been replaced in order to maintain a Kosher leafy roof for the remainder of the Jewish holiday.
