Just a few minutes ago the music ceased playing, Anash and the Tmimim who danced for hours literally without stopping made their way towards 770, or home, and the police opened the barricades to let traffic resume on Kingston Ave. Although both nights of Yom Tov saw much freiliche dancing in the streets as per the Rebbe's horoah, things get more lebedik to the notes of a Chassidishe band.
Huge crowds, including local Lubavitchers, thousands of orchim, mekurovim and residents of other neighborhoods all danced together as one, reliving the tremendous joy in the Bais HaMikdosh, and hoping that through this simcha we will experience it again tonight.
Many thanks go to the coordinators and the musicians who tirelessly kept up the beat and had the entire crowd dancing and jumping for joy.
As in the great Crown Heights tradition, the Simchas Bais HaShoeva will be celebrated every night on Kingston Ave. corner Montgomery Street. Be sure to be there.
For those at home, Boruch Ezagui has a beautiful photo gallery that lets us feel as if we were there in person.
